First, go to your existing project or create a new one, then navigate to the sidebar and click on “Roadmap”. In case you’re unable to see the “Roadmap” tab, make sure to enable it in your board setting.
To enable a roadmap in team-managed projects go to the Project settings and then Features. Find the "Roadmap" option in the list and toggle it on.
To enable a roadmap in company-managed projects go to the board settings and then "Roadmap".
If your roadmap is empty, click anywhere on it to start adding epics directly, or click on “Create epic”. Name your epic, then click enter.
You can start adding your child issues to your epic by clicking “Next” on your epic name, then choosing the type of child issue you want via the drop-down menu, and naming it.
At any point, you can double-click on your epics to add information such as the start and end dates of your epic or issue, the assignee, attachments, and so on.
Create Jira roadmap step-by-step
- Create a new Jira Software project, or go to an existing project then navigate to the sidebar and click Roadmap.
Note: If you are not seeing the Roadmap tab, enable it in your board setting.
2. Click + Create epic on your roadmap to create epics directly onto it. If your roadmap is empty, simply start typing to create.
3. Name your epic then hit Enter. You can double-click on your epics at any time from the roadmap to add information such as start and end date, assignee, attachments, and so on.
4. Add the child issues to your epic from the roadmap by clicking + Next on the epic name. Select the type of child issue you want by using the drop-down menu, then name your issue.
