Event: Your Journey with the Atlassian Cloud 2021
A new event "Your Journey with the Atlassian Cloud 2021" is planned for next Thursday, 8th July 2021. The event is co-hosted by Atlassian and Automation Consultants with a focus on exploring the cloud. The agenda is rich with topics like Cloud migration, ITSM, Jira Dashboards, Automation, and more.
Atlassian community event: THE ATLYMPICS 🏅
A new exciting Atlassian community initiative, the Atlympics, was announced last week. It's a competition to test your product knowledge and to make friends in the community. The Atlympics will run from 23 rd July to 8th August 2021 and you can sign up here. There will be 12 events in total and the winners will then receive a community badge and medal 🥇
Cloud performance update: Confluence pages now load 2x faster
Atlassian introduced Single Page Application Framework and since then have been porting pieces of Jira and Confluence to it. SPAs bring massive improvements to performance and overall user experience.
With this approach with every tab change, you progressively load more information instead of complete page loads that require reloading entire bundles of libraries and assets. Therefore they managed to improve speed by 2x on components they recently ported like Dashboards, Backlog, and Roadmaps.
And as a bonus, this announcement introduces improvements to Confluence server-side rendering which should help those with older or slower machines.
Jira priority icons are more accessible
If you use Jira on daily basis you might notice that something has changed last week - Jira priority icons got an update!
In this community post, you can see the comparison of old and new icons. The old ones had repeating shapes and only colours were changing which isn't really accessible. New icons have different shapes and colours making them very easy to recognize even on low-resolution screens.
Announcing the Connect app authorization guide
To help guide developers to avoid mistakes with the permission and authorization misuse in the future, Atlassian has produced some changes to their API endpoints, the connect frameworks, and improved their Security Guide documentation.

📚Article of the week: Video games can help your team work smarter (no, seriously)
This article from the Atlassian blog is for anyone who's still not convinced if playing video games as a teambuilding activity is a good idea.
One study has shown that playing 45 minutes game with your team makes you up to 20 percent more productive. Video games also improve strategic thinking, budgeting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
And you can go way beyond Counter strike sessions to make events more inclusive. Games like Among us, board games on Tabletopia and so on make it much easier.
